We all notice that every day we seem to have less time than the day before. This is because we work (too) hard and we tend to forget that our brains need rest from time to time. Focusing on something creative before concentrating on work again can do wonders. Why not grab that old set of silverware you don’t use anyway and turn it into napkin rings or garden markers? Want to know how nail polish and workouts can be combined with silverware? Check out these original and fun tutorials I selected for you.
Frings: Fork Napkin Rings
Great idea for dinner parties, brunches and weddings!
If you think ‘silverware’ and ‘workout’ don’t go together in one sentence, you might want to reconsider. Why not try the napkin rings – or frings, as Brooklyn Limestone calls them – while getting an excellent biceps training. It requires some extra tools, but it’s simple, easy and cheap! An extra pair of helping hands might come in handy, though.
Get the old forks, metal stamp set, vice, small section of galvanized pipe, vice grips, rubber mallet, sharpie marker and nail polish remover at hand and get to work with the tutorial here by Brooklyn Limestone.
Silverware Garden Markers
Get the garden organised!
There’s power in 2 clashing items. Take nature and objects crafted by men, put them together and you’ll get something really good, like for instance these spoon garden markers.
Don’t be afraid to make the stamps more personal and create a unique gift. Check out the tutorial by Free People Blog, they’ll tell you how to use a letter and number stamp set, the hammer and the object you want to stamp.
Glitter play for adults
Add sparkle to your dinner table or buffet. This is great for a forgotten set of mis matched cutlery.
Always secretly been jealous at seeing kids play with glue, glitter, paint, etc, while flashbacking to some good childhood memories? Capture by Lucy made a tutorial to make glitter cutlery: totally justified glitter play for adults!
Old silverware, a pot of glitter and nail polish. That’s all Lucy uses in her tutorial.
Timeless Silverware
Timeless cutlery
Just Being Me made a cutlery clock for under $10! Just hop over to the dollar store and Swedish Claes Ohlsson to create the very same clock as Just Being Me.
Spoon ear rings
Unique gift idea.
Transform yourself into a real smith and create your own unique set of earrings. This is a really fun project and if you’re really handy, this might be right up your alley. A Smith of All Trades makes sure you can follow each step of the way in her tutorial.

Wow! What great ideas! I particularly like the garden markers. If you’ve got vintage stuff around that you hate to part with, these are great solutions. Useful, too.
Wish I was as creative as others.
I love the garden markers idea. I may have to try out a few of these ideas. I’m enjoying how you are making creativity simple, practical, and really fun!
I love how we can take something no longer useful and give it new life!
Fun article. I adore the garden markers. And the clock is too cute
I love when I can repurpose something vintage, Robin. The garden markers might be my very favorite on this list and make me want to break out a hammer. Upcycling is the way to go!
